Rice Milk Recipe

Our family has decided to completely phase dairy (cow’s) milk out of our diets, so I decided to find oodles of different alternative milk recipes, make them all up, and let everyone in the family give them a try. We then rated them on a scale of 1 to 5, and the top 2-3 will be our household staples. I did not make almond milk this go round, because I’ve made that in that in the past and knew that we all liked it. I wanted to branch out and try some other options this time. In case you missed that Almond Milk recipe and would like to make it, here’s the link for you.  :-)

From left to right: Cashew Milk, Coconut Milk, Oat Milk, Rice Milk

Rice Milk

1 cup rice (brown or white)

3 cups water (for boiling)

4 cups cold water (for blending)

1/4 cup raw sugar

Place rice and 3 cups water in pan. Boil rice, then drain. Place cooked rice and 4 cups cold water in your Vita Mix blender, along with raw sugar. Strain through sieve or cheesecloth, chill, and enjoy.

Note: This is a thicker milk alternative, so you may want to add additional water to thin this out some. Our family liked this a lot better after thinning. You could add some cinnamon to this too, to make it resemble horchata. So yummy!

And in case you missed it, here’s a link to my Easy Oat Milk recipe, Coconut Milk recipe and Quick Cashew Milk recipe.
