Easy Oat Milk Recipe

Standard

Our family has decided to completely phase dairy (cow’s) milk out of our diets, so I decided to find oodles of different alternative milk recipes, make them all up, and let everyone in the family give them a try. We then rated them on a scale of 1 to 5, and the top 2-3 will be our household staples. I did not make almond milk this go round, because I’ve made that in that in the past and knew that we all liked it. I wanted to branch out and try some other options this time. In case you missed that Almond Milk recipe and would like to make it, here’s the link for you.  :-)

Easy Oat Milk

1/4 cup rolled oats

2 cups water

1/2 tsp vanilla

sweetener of your choice, to your taste (I added a small amount of raw sugar to this during our taste tests, which much improved the flavor.)

Place all ingredients in your Vita Mix blender. Mix thoroughly, then strain with sieve or cheesecloth. Enjoy!

We had never had Oat Milk before, so this was a first for our family. Hubby said it was gritty, I thought it was gross, and surprisingly, the kiddos were the ones who gave it higher scores. After I added a little amount of sweetener, everyone’s approval ratings went up a bit though. I would make this in a pinch, but will otherwise stick with our other options.

And in case you missed it, here’s a link to my Coconut Milk recipe and Quick Cashew Milk recipe too!
