Gut Detox Drink

Standard

After many hours of research to find out what things are beneficial for cleaning out the system and detoxing the gut, I came up with this recipe. I will provide links for you to all of the ingredients used.

Please note: This recipe is not for use in those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. There have also been reports from others, and I have personally experienced this as well a few times, of some people feeling a warming sensation when drinking this, as well as their heart beating a bit faster. This is due to the diatomaceous earth’s detoxing effect on the body. If you are concerned about this, you can feel free to not include the DE in this recipe.

Cherry Spinach Smoothie

Standard

I purchased a wonderful bunch of spinach from the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, and wanted a tasty way to use it all up. I decided to juice it all, and then add the juice to a smoothie. The end result was delicious, and I honestly couldn’t even taste the spinach juice in it. It’s truly a super way to incorporate some greens, without a green taste!

Cherry Spinach Smoothie

Ingredients:

* 16 oz Milk of choice (I used 16 oz filtered water, with 1 tblsp cashew butter)

* 1/3 cup Spinach Juice

* 1/3 cup Cherries, pitted

* 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder

Directions:

Juice a large bunch of spinach, to produce 1/3 cup of spinach juice. Pour through a mesh sieve, to skim all of the foam from it. Set finished juice aside. If making my milk recipe, place 2 cups filtered water & 1 tablespoon cashew butter in high speed blender. Blend until well incorporated. Place milk (or keep milk just made in blender container), cherries, spinach juice, and vanilla protein powder in blender, and blend until well incorporated. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!

I had a handful of my peach yogurt “donuts” leftover, and decided to throw them into a delicious smoothie after my workout today. I was NOT disappointed! I will definitely make this recipe again, and would love to try it with many different fruit “donut” flavors too.

Strawberry Vanilla Ice Cream Smoothie

Standard

Here’s one of my new post workout favorites! It contains the goodness of organic strawberries, and the flavor of vanilla ice cream, without the guilt of actual vanilla ice cream. It also helps soothe sore muscles, after a long hard workout. I have a feeling that I will be making this one a lot. Enjoy everyone!

Important Information & Disclaimer!!! – I apologize to everyone for the following snafu. I didn’t realize when I purchased this that this product is intended for men (because it doesn’t say so on the actual container itself). I got to looking on the company’s web site, and found that to be true, however. So I called them up to find out if this would hurt me (because I’m a woman, who has had about 3 servings of it so far) and they said that it wouldn’t hurt me, or make my muscles bulk up with only 3 servings. However, I’m guessing that it’s meant for men who are trying to build muscle, like body builders (based on the information I’m reading on their web site). This company does, however, have a Vanilla flavor in their Natural Whey, which I love their chocolate version in, so I’ll just be getting that from now on, and will give the rest of this container to my husband. Sorry again for any confusion I may have caused with this product.

Peanut Butter Cup Hot Chocolate – No Sugar Added

Standard

Last night I was craving a chocolate peanut butter cup, but am sticking to a very low sugar lifestyle. So with that in mind, I set out to create something that I could consume quickly, that would taste amazing, but still be low in sugar. Enter, the peanut butter hot chocolate idea.

002

Peanut Butter Cup Hot Chocolate – No Sugar Added

Ingredients:

* 10 oz Almond Milk (I used my Quick & Easy Almond Milk)

* 3 tblsp dutch Cocoa

* 2 tblsp Peanut Butter

Instructions:

Add almond milk and cocoa to a small sauce pan. Heat through and add peanut butter. The PB I used had a small amount of sugar added to it when made, so it lightly sweetened my cocoa. You could add some liquid stevia or another type of natural sweetener to this instead, to give it a small amount of sweetness. Enjoy!

Orange Creamsicle Winter Wellness Smoothie

Standard

I typically consume 1 protein smoothie per day, and with it being winter time, I knew that I wanted to add a boost of vitamins into the mix as well. I had already been drinking Airborne multiple times per day, to help keep my immune system boosted, so I decided to combine the 2, into 1 delicious smoothie. The results were incredibly delicious. I hope that you enjoy this smoothie as much as I do!

Orange Creamsicle Winter Wellness Smoothie

What you’ll need:

* 8oz cold, filtered water

* 1 orange flavored Airborne tablet

* 16oz almond milk (I used my Quick & Easy Almond Milk – from almond butter – recipe)

* Vanilla protein powder (your favorite brand – as much as needed to make 16oz worth of smoothie)

* A marked mason jar that shows ounces on the side of the jar (optional)

What you’ll do:

Fill your mason jar with the 8oz of cold filtered water. Drop your orange Airborne tablet into the water, allowing to dissolve completely. Add 16oz of almond milk, then your vanilla protein powder. Place snug lid on mason jar and give it a few good shakes. Have fun with it (come on, you know you want to!). Remove lid and enjoy your super delicious Orange Creamsicle Winter Wellness Smoothie! It’s so good!

Here’s a picture to show what the mason jar looks like, with ounces measuring lines on the side of it. It’s hard to make out the 8oz, 16oz, and 24oz markers, but they’re on there. These make adding liquids in as you go so super easy. No measuring cups required.
